I was on the team which helped research and write this demo. The 5-day demo was designed to illustrate how a Bitesize Track could help experienced teachers mentor new teachers. I drew on my eleven years in education to offer insights into learning disabilities and the new teacher experience. Apart from content collaboration, I also copyedited the document.

Book Editing

Prior to editing this children’s book, I recorded a series of videos for the author on her early drafts. One was a video recording of myself reading her book aloud, addressing her concerns regarding flow, word choice, content, design, and a very light copyedit. The second was a video in which I read her book aloud to my kids so that she could see how her target audience reacted. She edited her book and sent it back for further comments and more thorough copyedit.

I collaborated with the author throughout the writing process for this children’s book. It’s an alphabet book, so initially, I helped her brainstorm ideas to go with many of the letters. Once she had the illustrations and basic text concepts, I helped her edit her book for grammar, parallelism, and consistency.

Apart from basic copyediting, I recorded a video in which I read the book to my children so that the author could see their reaction and get a feel for the pacing and phrasing.

In addition to traditional copyediting, the client expressed a desire to learn more about grammar and wanted layout/design feedback. As such, I provided the client with explanations and further resources regarding many of my copyedits. I also offered suggestions regarding visual rhetoric elements of the children’s book.
